Itâd been four days since Harper's attempted kidnapping and our several hour sex fest, and thankfully, there had been no more attempts on her life or the Phantoms trying to snatch her up. Iâd been hard at work in my office researching into who could have been behind the murder and after her, but when I wasnât, Iâd found myself wanting to be around Harper. Because between the two of us, though, things had started to heat up.
She was flouncing around the kitchen singing songs softly and making breakfast when I walked in. Watching her move and dance, I leaned against the doorframe and crossed my arms, smirking that she had no clue I was there. It was quite a miracle to see her stay so bright and cheery, despite the gloomy realization that, even with my contacts working day and night, we hadn't found anything of use.
I knew it had something to do with the man that they had killed and his job of being an accountant. We just hadn't been able to put two and two together quite yet, but I was hopeful we would have news today or tomorrow from the Auckland Kingsâ tech team.
âOh, good morning!â she exclaimed when she finally saw me standing there, a bright smile spreading over her face. Ever since that night when she kissed me, the arguing between the two of us seemed to fall to the wayside. Though her sassy mouth certainly hadnât slowed.
âMorning,â I greeted, stepping farther into the kitchen. âWhat's for breakfast?â She turned around to face me fully and flashed me a sassy grin.
âWho says any of this is for you?â she asked, waving the spatula at the various food cooking.
âYeah, like I'm supposed to believe you're going to be able to eat all of that,â I drew out with a brow raise. She shrugged before turning back to the stove to flip the pancakes.
âMaybe I could, you don't know. Gotta keep these curves somehow,â she joked, shaking her ass. I bit my lip to keep from growing hard. The little mischievous glint in her eyes as she glanced over at me told me she knew exactly what she was doing. We hadn't exactly had a chance to talk about what had happened between us, but it was pretty clear where we were going.
Despite not having fucked anymore, she continued to stay in my bed and curl up to fall asleep, our eyes trailing over each other whenever we were in the same room. Touches here and there, mine over her ass or hips, or her leaning in and pressing her chest against me. Each brief moment was slowly working its way through the cold exterior that I tried so hard to keep, but something about her was addictive and I couldnât stop myself from wanting more.
âFine, fine,â she gave in, cutting into the swirl of thoughts in my head. âI'm making pancakes, eggs, and I cut up some fresh fruit.â
âSounds good,â I told her, stepping up behind her, unable to keep my hands off of her any longer.
